Extension of the appointment is subject to the duration of the project, extension of the mandate and the availability of the funds.

This position is located in the Library of the United Nations Office at Geneva (UNOG), The incumbent will work under the direct supervision of the Chief, Institutional Memory Section.

工作内容

Within delegated authority, the incumbent will undertake the following duties:

1) Manages communications and the creation of substantive content relating to the Total Digital Access to the League of Nations Archives project (LONTAD), the history of multilateralism in Geneva, and the history of the League of Nations, including:
•Web content and resources for researchers and the general public
•Preparation of physical and virtual exhibitions
•Preparation of substantive social media content.

2) Advises management on the design, use, and further development of digital products and content created during the LONTAD project and articulates strategies for the "Library&Archives" strategic plan 2020-2023 related to research on the history of multilateralism and the role of the "Library&Archives" in the support of digital humanities research.

3) Identifies and develops relations with key partners to further the objectives of LONTAD and the "Library&Archives", and advises management on partnerships and their focus, including academia, UN partners, and other relevant institutions, with a strong focus on the digital humanities.

4) Supports management with the design of the second phase of the LONTAD project, within the knowledge systems framework for integrated services to be offered by the Library Services Section and the Institutional Memory Section of the United Nations Library&Archives Geneva, including the identification of potential funding sources and the development of grant proposals and applications.

5) Undertakes other duties as may be required

Advanced university degree (Master’s or equivalent) in information management, library science, social sciences, history or related field. A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying work experience may be accepted in lieu of an advanced university degree.

A minimum of five (5) years of experience in information management, historical research and/or teaching, communication, or related area is required.
Experience in publishing academic articles/book is required.
A minimum of one (1) year of relevant experience in an international organization is desirable.
Experience in creating communications content is desirable.
Experience in building partnerships with academia and/or cultural institutions is desirable.

English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the position advertised, fluency in both English and French is required. Knowledge of another United Nations official language is desirable.

Candidates who have committed crimes other than minor traffic offences may not be considered for employment.
