The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is the leading global environmental authority that sets the global environmental agenda, promotes the coherent implementation of the environmental dimension of sustainable development within the United Nations system and serves as an authoritative advocate for the global environment. The overall objective of UNEP's Economy Division is to encourage decision makers in government, local authorities and industry to develop and adopt policies, strategies and practices and technologies that promote sustainable patterns of consumption and production, make efficient use of natural resources, ensure safe management of chemicals and contribute to making trade and environment policies mutually supportive. The Division promotes the development, use and transfer of policies, technologies, economic instruments, managerial practices and other tools that assist in environmentally sound decision making and the building of corresponding activities. Under the overall supervision of the Head, International Resources Panel, the incumbent will be responsible for the following duties:

工作内容

•Develops, implements and evaluates programmes/projects aimed at mainstreaming sustainable resource management into high-level policy agendas on climate, biodiversity, land, among others; monitors and analyzes programme/project development and implementation; reviews relevant documents and reports; identifies problems and issues to be addressed and initiates corrective actions; liaises with relevant parties; ensures follow-up actions.

•Researches, analyzes and presents information gathered from diverse sources.

•Coordinates policy development, including the review and analysis of issues and trends and the preparation of evaluations or other research activities and studies; coordinates the development and implementation of a strategy to increase the impact of the International Resource Panel (IRP) amongst core audiences, as agreed by members.

•Generates survey initiatives; designs data collection tools; reviews, analyzes and interprets responses; identifies problems/issues and prepares conclusions.

•Organizes and prepares written outputs, e.g. draft background papers, analysis, sections of reports and studies, inputs to publications, etc.

•Provides substantive backstopping to consultative and other meetings, conferences, etc., to include proposing agenda topics, identifying participants, preparation of documents and presentations, etc.

•Initiates and coordinates outreach activities; conducts training workshops, seminars, etc.; makes presentations on assigned topics/activities. coordinates the development, dissemination, evaluation and monitoring of impact of selected IRP scientific assessments and derivative products (e.g. summary for policy makers, summary for business).

•Coordinates activities related to budget funding (programme/project preparation and submissions, progress reports, financial statements, etc.) and prepares related documents/reports (pledging, work programme, programme budget, etc.).

•Provides strategic support to IRP Co-Chairs and members to develop and successfully implement the Work Programme of the IRP which includes: identification of and follow-up on emerging opportunities for the increased impact of the IRP’s research; preparation of background documents and tailored material based on IRP reports; mobilization of key stakeholders; and organization of meetings and capacity development events.

•Ensures coordinated action and develops synergies with related UNEP initiatives like the 10-Year Framework of Programmes on Sustainable Consumption and Production, as well as with other UN organizations working on the environmental dimension of the Sustainable Development Goals; liaises with other Units, Branches and Divisions in UNEP to ensure that the activities of the IRP contribute to the implementation of UNEP's Programme of Work, in line with priorities agreed upon by the United Nations Environment Assembly.

•Performs other relevant duties as required.

Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in law, sustainable development or environmental management, economics or a related field is required. A first-level university degree in combination with two years' qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.

工作经验

A minimum of seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in project or programme management, administration or related area is required.
Experience in budget management is highly desirable.
Experience within the UN system or other international or public sector organization is desirable.
Experience with fund raising processes involving international agencies, financing institutions, NGOs, government agencies or international private sector organizations is desirable.

English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this internship fluency in oral and written English is required. Knowledge of another UN language is an advantage.

Evaluation of qualified candidates may include an assessment exercise which may be followed by competency-based interview.
