Staff members are subject to the authority of the Secretary-General and to assignment by him or her. In this context, all staff are expected to move periodically to new functions in their careers in accordance with established rules and procedures.

This position is located in the Methodology, Education and Training Section (METS), Development and Economic and Social Issues Branch, Thematic Engagement, Special Procedures and Right to Development Division, Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) in Geneva. Geneva is classified as a "H" hardship duty station and a family duty station. The incumbent reports to the Chief of Section (METS) or designated staff.

工作内容

Within delegated authority, the incumbent will be responsible for the following duties:

• Support development and application of definitional, methodological, data collection and disaggregation guidance, tools and documentation on indicators identified under international human rights standards, and in connection with the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and its indicator framework developed under the auspices of the international statistical community;
• Support organization and delivery of training activities, technical assistance, consultations and collaboration with in-house and external partners, including human rights and statistical experts/practitioners and other stakeholders from national and international governmental and non-governmental organizations/entities active in the fields of human rights, governance, development and statistics;
• Review available literature, standards and practices in the field of human rights and statistics and on-going work by OHCHR, UN agencies, national human rights institutions, national statistical offices, civil society organizations and other stakeholders in relation to the measurement and implementation of international human rights standards;
• Assist in compiling, publishing online and regularly updating relevant data held by OHCHR at the global level, including the OHCHR indicators dashboard and related world maps and metadata; and
• Performs such other related duties as required.

Advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent degree) in Human Rights, Law, Social Sciences, Statistics or other related disciplines. A combination of a first level university degree and two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.

工作经验

Required experience:
- A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience at national and international levels in conducting analytical work or policy-oriented research in the area of human rights.
- Experience in researching, collecting, verifying, analysing, synthezising quantitative and qualitative information pertaining to human rights matters.

Desired experience:
- Experience in collaborating with human rights institutions, statistical organizations, United Nations agencies and/or relevant international organizations.

语言要求

English and French are the working languages of the United Nations. For the post advertised, fluency in English is required. Knowledge of an another official UN language is desirable.
